English, German and Russian to Latvian

Arita on a footbridge in Riga's Arcadia Park (Arkādijas parks).

My name is Arita Upeniece, and I am a freelance translator and interpreter based in Riga. I mainly work in the English–Latvian language pair and occasionally from German and Russian into Latvian, my native language. I studied English philology and interpreting at the University of Latvia, and gained an insight into business and creative industries at the BA School of Business and Finance. Since 2007 I have been translating and reviewing texts related to the European Union, public opinion questionnaires, business presentations, marketing content, user manuals and other materials. In 2009, I was accredited as a freelance conference interpreter for the EU institutions and have interpreted meetings in Riga, Brussels and Strasbourg. This experience has given me industry contacts and the skills to set up interpreter teams.
